Engine Rebuild Guarantee – Terms & Conditions
Revolution Porsche Specialists (“RPS”)
- Scope of Guarantee
1.1 This guarantee applies in addition to your statutory rights under UK law, which are not affected.
1.2 The guarantee applies to engines used under normal road conditions. Use for racing, competition, or extreme track driving may invalidate some or all of this guarantee where such use has contributed to the failure. - Covered Components
2.1 New components supplied by RPS are covered against failure for the applicable manufacturer’s warranty period.
2.2 Unless otherwise stated, the following components are covered for up to 12 months or 10,000 miles (whichever occurs first):
- Gaskets and seals (where failure is considered significant)
- Crankshaft bearings
- Aftermarket intermediate bearings
- Cylinder liners
- RPS chosen supplier components
2.3 Porsche-supplied pistons and parts (subject to Porsche’s terms)
2.4 The following are not covered under this guarantee:
- Used components
- Customer-supplied or re-used components
2.5 Cylinder heads and original manufacturer cylinders are generally excluded, except where explicitly replaced or upgraded by RPS. RPS cylinders are covered.
2.6 Where a claim relates to a Porsche-supplied component, RPS may follow Porsche’s claims process. If Porsche declines a claim, RPS will assess the matter independently in line with this guarantee and applicable law.
- Labour
3.1 Labour carried out by RPS is covered for up to 12 months or 10,000 miles (whichever occurs first).
3.2 This applies to work undertaken by RPS and does not extend to third-party labour.
- Conditions of Guarantee
4.1 This guarantee is conditional upon the vehicle being:
- Run-in in accordance with RPS guidance
- Maintained using appropriate oil (e.g. Mobil 5w40 Super 3000 Fully Synthetic or equivalent)
- Serviced in line with Porsche schedules
4.2 Servicing should be carried out by a competent specialist using genuine Porsche or OEM-equivalent parts.
4.3 You may be asked to provide reasonable evidence of servicing and maintenance (such as invoices or records) to support a claim.
4.4 RPS may request an oil analysis where relevant to assessing a claim.
4.5 For engines not installed by RPS, reasonable evidence of installation mileage and available engine data (e.g. operating hours, over-rev information where available) should be provided.
- Claims Process
5.1 You should notify RPS as soon as reasonably possible if a fault is suspected, and before significant dismantling or repair work is carried out (except in emergencies).
5.2 RPS may request the opportunity to inspect the vehicle or engine. This may include returning the vehicle to RPS premises, although reasonable alternatives may be considered where appropriate.
5.3 Faults will be assessed fairly to determine cause. Where a covered component or workmanship issue is identified, RPS will repair or rectify the issue at no cost to the customer.
5.4 If the fault is not covered, RPS will discuss available repair options and costs before proceeding.
5.5 This guarantee does not normally cover:
- Costs incurred without prior agreement
- Third-party labour or diagnostic charges
- Recovery or transport costs
However, these may be considered on a case-by-case basis where required by law or where deemed reasonable.
- Exclusions
6.1 This guarantee does not cover faults caused by:
- Track or competition use (where causative)
- Incorrect installation not carried out by RPS
- Overheating, neglect, or misuse (including engine remapping)
- Failure of non-covered components
6.2 Where a non-covered component fails and causes damage to covered components, the resulting damage may not be covered unless required under consumer law.
- Technical Characteristics
7.1 Due to the design and age of some Porsche engines, minor oil weeps or variations may occur. These will not generally be considered faults unless they result from defective workmanship or parts.
7.2 Minor noises that do not affect performance or reliability are not typically considered faults but will be assessed reasonably on a case-by-case basis.
- Recommended Work
8.1 Where additional work is recommended but declined, and a related issue later arises, this may affect how a claim is assessed, particularly where the declined work is directly relevant to the failure. - Aftermarket Components
9.1 RPS cannot guarantee the compatibility or performance of aftermarket components supplied or specified by the customer. However, this does not affect your statutory rights. - Running-In Requirements
10.1 A running-in period of approximately 1000 miles is recommended.
10.2 During this period:
- Engine load and speed should be varied
- Excessive idling should be avoided
- Engine labouring should be avoided
10.3 Failure to follow running-in guidance may affect warranty coverage where it is shown to have contributed to a fault.
- Additional Notes
- Oil and oil filter replacement is required after the first 1000 miles and must be carried out by RPS and will be chargeable. RPS will also carry out an inspection of the engine to ensure no leaks or issues are visible.
- Minimum fuel specification: 98 RON (99 RON recommended)
- A brief puff of smoke on start-up is not usually a fault
- Your Statutory Rights
12.1 Nothing in this guarantee limits or excludes your legal rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 or other applicable UK consumer protection laws.
